Through her looking glass - Jemma Andrew-Adiamah

Today I want to introduce you to a lady who's blog I have totally fallen in love with this year, we share the same passions and are inspired by the same people, her blog is on my must reads list each week and I know you will love her too!

I discovered Celery and Cupcakes earlier on in the year as I was coming out of my postnatal haze of being a mummy to a new baby again and needed a bit of extra motivation to invest in myself and look after my well being. Full of healthy but simple recipes, wisdom and ideas to leading a positive life, this blog feels like a chat with your best friend and will have you feeling just as inspired as I am to nourish your mind, body and soul - so let me introduce you to Jemma Andrew-Adimah as she shares her thoughts and wisdom on finding balance and feeling her best.
How do you start your day? Can you tell us more about the first 3 things you have to do to get your day started?
Drinking a glass of warm water with lemon first thing in the morning has become a ritual for me and my body always feels better for it.  If time allows I also like to squeeze in some morning meditation or gentle yoga to get me all energised to start my day, but it doesn't always happen. Breakfast is essential as is writing my to-do list otherwise my day is complete chaos without one.

Share your favourite piece of wisdom and why it means something to you.
Do what you love has been a game changer for me. After completely turning my career on its head and becoming a full-time blogger and freelancer, I feel so much happier getting to indulge my creative side.  Becoming self-employed means that I get to enjoy more time with my family, which is what I was missing out on previously.  Life is far too short to spend it doing something that only gives you negative vibes.

What is your go to thing for comfort when it all gets to much?
Spending time with my family always brings me so much comfort and happiness when I start to feel overwhelmed.  Similarly, doing the things that I enjoy that I sometimes don't have time for helps to bring back a sense of tranquility and it's reassuring to me knowing that I have these in my life.

Who are the women that inspire you?
I don’t really have a single person that inspires me, but I’m drawn to strong independent
women who just own it!  Women like Oprah Winfrey, Sophia Amoruso and Danielle LaPorte
all share such amazing qualities and are generally just awesome.

How do you see yourself and what makes up your sense of identity?
Having a baby definitely changes the way you see yourself and it has changed me for the better.  I've gained a sense of confidence that I was missing before and an unknown joy and love that I never thought possible!

Do you have a favourite dish or recipe that makes you feel good or gives you a much-needed boost?
A wonderful green smoothie always resets my body after a period of indulgence and too much chocolate. Generally speaking, I love curries and Mexican food anything that feeds my soul and nourishes my body.  I'm all about balance so this also includes pizza and cake too, it's not all about the green stuff.

What's challenging you right now?
Exercise!  I'm in such a workout rut at the moment and I'm slowly trying to get out of it.  Gradually I've come to terms with the fact that there are only 24 hours in the day and I'm less hard on myself. I'm doing what I can when I can, I'm happy with that and that's what counts!

Tell us more about your latest or next project.
I'm very excited because I've just launched my new Healthy Snacking 101 E-guide that is free to all my email subscribers.  It focuses on simple and delicious recipes that can be made while the kettle is boiling or while your baby is napping.  All the recipes use simple store cupboard ingredients that most people will have at home and includes chocolate and cake.  I'm a firm believer in balance and you can eat cake and be healthy too.

I'm also in the process of writing a 21-day challenge for my readers centred around self-love that I will be launching in the new year and have some exciting client projects coming up.
